Racing enthusiasts, families and food lovers can look forward to a vibrant day of racing, entertainment and South African lekker vibes when Hollywoodbets Durbanville hosts the feature race day of the Race Coast Spring Series on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
Promising much more than just an afternoon at the races, the family-friendly event will combine exciting thoroughbred racing with live entertainment, a Potjiekos Competition, food and beverage specials, market stalls and activities for children.
The day’s racing action will be headlined by the Matchem Stakes Gr 3, with the Diana Stakes Gr 3 and Settlers Trophy L adding to an exciting programme of feature racing. The Matchem Stakes has a strong history of identifying horses who go on to achieve success at the highest level. Dual winner Questioning is a recent example, going on to win the Gr 2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes and the Gr 1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge, after successfully defending his Matchem crown last year.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Smile FM’s Keeno Lee will take on MC duties, while guests can enjoy entertainment from DJ Naughty Nic, Newton & Co and Andriette Norman. Lucky Fish activations will further add to the day’s entertainment, ensuring that the atmosphere remains lively from the moment the gates open at 10am through to sundown.
Food lovers can look forward to the return of Hollywoodbets Durbanville’s popular Potjiekos Competition, where teams will compete for a share of R5,000 in prizes while showcasing their culinary creativity. Limited to just 10 teams, entries are available through Computicket at R250.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to sample the competitors’ delicious creations, while braai smoke, good food and beer specials add a distinctly South African flavour to the occasion. R4,000 for the winning team and R1,000 for Gees.
Between races, guests can explore 20 thrift market stalls, offering a chance to discover unique finds and support local vendors. Younger visitors will also be well catered for, with a free, supervised Kids’ Zone featuring jumping castles, arcade games, crafts, face painting, balloon artists and more.
With an exciting programme of racing, live music, delicious food and family entertainment, this Race Coast event promises to be a celebration of racing and lekker Vibes.
