US Embassy: NEW eligibilty requirement for refugee applicants

The US Embassy has announced a new directive on the eligibility for the refugee resettlement programme opened to minority South Africans, with the primary focus being white Afrikaners.

This comes after US President Donald Trump confirmed the dramatic scaling back of admissions  – at just 7500 – for the next fiscal year.

According to the president, the offer is open to victims of “racial persecution”, having previously condemned the country’s promotion of a “white genocide”.

REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAMME: NEW ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

This week, the US Embassy issued a new directive on behalf of the US Refugee Admissions Programme, or USRAP.

In it were the updated eligibility requirements for South African “refugees”, hoping to resettle in the US.

While USRAP has previously stated that the programme is open to minority races in South Africa, particularly white Afrikaners, who have voiced their fear of racial persecution, new information has stated that applicants must reside in the country for their applications to be considered.

“The program does not anticipate any out-of-country processing of South African nationals”, read an update on the eligibility.

According to US intel expert Chris Wyatt, several applicants had hoped to enter the programme, despite living abroad.

He said on his YouTube channel: “This gets very convoluted when people try to complain…it’s an in-country resettlement programme. You cannot be a South African living in Namibia…or in Ireland or in the UK. You have to be a South African living in South Africa.

He added: “People keep acting like this is your ticket to America. It isn’t an immigration programme, it’s not immigration. Get that cr*p out of your head”.

NOT ALL REFUGEE APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED

Additionally, USRAP has stated that not all applicants would be considered for the refugee resettlement programme. However, all applicants would receive a notification of the outcome.

“The U.S. government considers a variety of factors when making USRAP access decisions, including eligibility criteria, persecution claim, and background check results”, the updated programme read.

BE WARY OF SCAMS

The directive also included a warning for applicants to be vigilant about scams and fraudulent processes.

It read: “Beware of individuals or organizations purporting to be either partners of the USRAP or offering to expedite portions of the refugee resettlement process.

“The USRAP application and processing is free. And there is no one who can help expedite your application for a fee. No one should pay any fees or favors to assist or expedite resettlement to the United States or to gain access to the program. Do not share your personal information or your identity documents with anyone you do not trust”.
