Pitso Mosimane takes charge of Bafana
South Africa will be intrigued to see Bafana in action under new coach Pitso Mosimane in his second stint as the boss of the national team. They face Guinea in an AFCON qualifier on Saturday, 26 September at 18:00. There are some whispers online suggesting that Shandre Campbell could be deployed in a false 9 position, although veteran Themba Zwane is also an option there.

Aubaas gets picked for Bafana again
31-year-old Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas has made three Betway Premiership appearances this term with one assist. The last time he made double figures for league appearances was his 14 outings in the 2024-25 campaign. However, across that and the following domestic season, he failed to score or assist a single goal for Masandawana. Several fans have labelled him a cow. Is that fair?

Meanwhile, Bafana playmaker Rele Mofokeng scored the clinching penalty in a shootout win over Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup final in July. The ex-Pirates star has continued his fine form for his new club, scoring his first Europa League goal for his new club last Thursday in a comfortable 3-0 win over Viktoria Plzen. He’s also scored three times in five league outings. Union SG have won six matches on the bounce across all competitions, with Mofokeng claiming an assist against Royal Antwerp.
