Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has given an update on winger Monnapule Saleng.
The 28-year-old winger is yet to appear for Masandawana this season due to off the field related issues.
Last week, Saleng was seen training with the Sundowns first team for the first time. Although he did not play in the MTN8 final this past weekend, many fans saw it as a positive sign that the former Orlando Pirates was back in the coach’s good books.
Speaking to the media, Cardoso revealed that Saleng was training with the team.
Saleng spotted training with Sundowns first team
“Look, in the same way I spoke about Saleng when I last spoke about him, we as a club, me, the Sport Director, the players, the captains and the chairman, we decided to give ourselves and Saleng an opportunity to move forward in a positive way,” Cardoso told iDiski Times.
“Saleng trained during a period alone and he trained quite consistently and with respect of the values that we need to have inside a professional team. And since he joined the team, he has kept that path. So we are happy that he shows consistency on training.”
Saleng joined Sundowns from Pirates in January and went on to make a handful of appearances for the club. It was mentioned by Cardoso that the player failed to travel with the team several times towards last season and was completely dropped from the team and was forced to train alone.
