SASSA Old-Age Grants in November 2026 will take place earlier than initially scheduled. In a change intended to prevent disruption around the local government elections on Wednesday 4 November 2026, some disbursements have been moved to this week.
Specifically, four-million recipients of SASSA Old-Age Grants in November 2026 will now receive their money on Friday 30 October 2026. While that’s good news for now – a 28-day wait (down from 32 days) – it does mean a longer run into next month’s December disbursements just before the Christmas holidays.

The South African Social Security Agency confirmed the revised schedule after consulting stakeholders and securing National Treasury approval. Disability and the three Children’s grants were also brought forward, but not to this week:
SASSA has urged beneficiaries to avoid unnecessary visits to its offices. Once the funds have been deposited, recipients can access them through their usual payment channels.

Current monthly grant amounts are unchanged after zero October top-ups were approved:
STRICTER BIOMETRIC AND FRAUD PREVENTION
The revised payment calendar comes as Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana delivered his 2026 Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS). In the address on Wednesday 21 October, he also confirmed that the R370 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant would be extended for another year, to March 2028. However, the minister did not announce a definitive timetable for transforming the temporary SRD grant into permanent Basic Income Support.
Government says it will continue working to connect beneficiaries with employment, training and enterprise opportunities through its MzansiXchange data platform. And Treasury is also pursuing stronger biometric verification and fraud prevention to generate savings.
